Edward
and Beverly Prechter created Cedar Ridge Morgans with the belief
that dreams really can come true. Together they fulfilled a lifelong
dream of enhancing and promoting the heritage of the first American
bred horse, and the dreams of a man called Justin Morgan.
Through the years and until Beverly's passing in 2002, Edward,
alongside his youngest daughter Amy helped to make a good name
for Cedar Ridge Morgans. In 2002, Edward and Amy continued to
follow Beverly's lifelong ambition of not only breeding, training
and showing Morgan horses but also incorporating the sport of
rodeo and Quarter horses into the ranch.
Today the facility is known as Cedar Ridge Equine and exhibits
the perfect balance of Morgans and Quarter Horses in a western
working envioronment. The home of two exceptional stallions,
one can choose to breed to the most agile of Morgans or one of
the most conformationally correct and athletic of Quarter Horses.
Even though we have changed our name, our philosophy at Cedar
Ridge Equines will forever remain the same:
Always
remember that it is okay to dream, that's what we did and look what happened.
Come
visit us at Cedar Ridge Equines and we'll show you all the things
that dreams are made of and then we'll make yours a reality.
Trainer
and Instructor Amy Prechter has had a lifetime involvement with
horses. Her many accomplishments began at a young age, showing
Morgan Horses. In her teens, she was busy with High School Rodeo,
and as a young adult, she successfully entered the world of training
competitive horses, followed by giving classes
and lessons.
Our
"Hall of Fame" page gives
a snapshot view of just some of Amy's impressive shows along
the way to her professional status. She truly loves what she
does and has never wavered in her dedication.
Pictured
the top right is young Amy with Windswept Mars, our beloved Morgan
gelding that Amy rode to many first places in the 12 and under
classes.
Pictured
below is Amy riding her AQHA stallion, Wata
Newsy Count
(aka "Surfer"), at the Nevada County Horsemen's 2005
Rodeo, where she was crowned the Miss Nevada County Queen. The
duo paired up again in 2006 and Amy won the Miss Penn Valley
Rodeo Queen!
Surfer's
career has blossomed under Amy's guidance. They have won or placed
in numerous Am-West sanctioned barrel races, participated in
a Speed Williams / Clay O'Brien team roping clinic, Sharon Camarillo
Barrel Racing Clinic, and shown and placed well in a wide range
of AQHA shows (halter, heading, heeling, barrels and poles).
As
you will see on our pages, Amy has true versatility in her broad
equine experience and enjoys passing on her expertise to her
students.
We
are very proud to offer her services at Cedar Ridge Equines.
